About MarinePathway

Official data is public. It just is not easy to use.

MarinePathway reorganises DGS and DGMA approval records into a searchable, mobile-friendly directory so students, seafarers, and parents can make informed decisions before spending money.

Why MarinePathway exists

The Directorate General of Maritime Administration (DGMA) publishes all approval data publicly. That data is the ground truth. However, the official portals are not designed for search — finding whether a specific institute offers a particular course requires navigating multiple PDFs and government tables.

MarinePathway reorganises the same official data into a format that works on mobile, supports search and filtering, and surfaces the information people actually need when making career decisions. We do not independently assess or certify any listing.

Data position

We reproduce public data. We do not generate it.

Every record on MarinePathway originates from an official government source. The competitive advantage is structured, accessible presentation — not the data itself.

Data methodology

Five steps from raw government records to searchable directory.

1
Collect

Pull raw approval records from dgma.gov.in.

2
Normalise

Clean, deduplicate, and standardise institute names, cities, states, and course codes.

3
Connect

Link institutes to their approved courses and approval numbers so the relationship is queryable.

4
Flag

Surface expired and suspended approvals explicitly as a distinct signal, not buried in a list.

5
Update

Re-run the process periodically to catch new approvals, expiries, and status changes.
